On these pages you'll find many projects I've completed at NRCC, with information about how each was made. This page will be updated with more projects as I progress through the curriculum. Please use the links above to see projects from different courses.
Flash Projects
In this class, we use Adobe Flash to create animated web content. The first half of the class takes us through the nuts and bolts of Flash, culminating in a Flash certification. The first half was mostly projects from the book, with a few creative projects that we planned and executed using the skills we had learned from the book. The second half is when we really get into creating our own original content, using the skills from the first half along with some advanced techniques to (hopefully) create amazing things!
Final Project - Animator's Nightmare
An animator (me) falls asleep and dreams of being inside the Flash software, being attacked by his creations. This was animated in Adobe Flash, using ActionScript, more advanced sound and music effects than I've used in the past, plenty of motion tweens, parallax backgrounds, blur, fade, walk cycle animations, character design, and other techniques.
A Quiet Night on the Farm
A chicken dreams of freedom. This was animated in Adobe Flash with motion tweens, object blur, full stage blur, motion blur, looping backgrounds, sound effects, and character animation.
A Quiet Day on the Farm
The chicken from the last video gains her freedom. This one is also a love letter to Looney Tunes. This was animated in Adobe Flash, using fade effects, motion tweens, looping backgrounds, the bone tool, the spray brush tool, sound effects, and character animation.
Parallax Background
In this project we used parallax backgrounds to create the illusion of depth. I used my robot from a previous assignment, and took him out for a walk in the park.
Special Effects 1 - Patrolling the Mojave
This project and the next one use various special effects from our textbook. This first one is inspired by a very common line of NPC dialogue in Fallout: New Vegas, and uses snowfall effects and part of the fireworks effects.
Special Effects 2 - Out Of Ideas
This is the second project in the Special Effects assignment. I couldn't think of what to animate for this one, so I decided to roll with it and animate myself being indecisive. This project uses page turning, spiral, lightning, and fire effects.
Game Character
This project had us make a walk cycle for a character that could be used as a video game character. After creating the walk cycle in Flash, we imported assets into GameMaker to create a simple game using our Flash animations.
Rotoscoping
In this project, we started with an original video, then drew over important frames with a drawing tablet to animate over the video. I used a video of my best friend's son, Dean, rocking out to The Wiggles.
